Whew! Is back-to-school time busy or what?
In the past few weeks, we have been in overdrive. And when I say, “we,” I mean our family. Because, of course, we’re in this thing together.
We have started sixth grade, third grade, and moved to an upstairs room at preschool.
We have made several trips to the orthodontist. We have paid hundreds of dollars during those visits. We have received orthodontic facial appliances.
We have started a new part-time job at preschool.
We have put on cleats and shin guards for soccer practice.
We have learned all kinds of things about computer programs that we never thought we would.
We have launched a blog.
We have composed sentences with our vocabulary words.
We have filled in for a co-worker at another office.
We have learned CPR.
We have joined the church youth group.
We have filled out numerous papers with emergency contact numbers.
We have struggled with math problems.
We have entered three hundred and forty some items in a consignment sale.
We have already gotten out the cough and cold medicine.
We have eaten. We have argued. We have laughed. We have longed to sleep in.
We are tired.
And then a little gift arrives on the calendar. Labor Day. A holiday. And it’s on a Monday.
A break from the alarm clock and the packed lunch.
A shot of refreshment at just the right time.
A day to eat hamburgers and leave the planner closed.
Just a little gift.
Hope you have a day to unwrap. If not today, then soon.
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
Need some rest? Sometimes the key is keeping it simple.
